Reveal your Inner Self with the power of this Emotion Exploring Exercise

The business world often asks us to throw our emotional selves into a tight little box and stuff it somewhere it can’t be found. Any profession, for that instance. Why?

Because we’re always made to feel like emotions are less than logic. Always. As something not professional. As something weak.

But the one thing that we don’t realize is that our emotions are our superpower. They give us insights into our limiting beliefs & fears, guide us on the right path, allow us to feel, connect & empathize and so much more!

So why should we ignore them? And is that how we want to live the rest of our beautiful lives?

Don’t you want to live a complete life, feel every bit of the world around you, and experience the beauty of life?

If you’re someone who has been finding it difficult to tap into your emotional self but doesn’t know how to or is not able to, this exercise worked wonders for me. And I can’t help but share it with you.

Try it out, and let me know how it goes!

Before I continue, I just wanted to let you know that my mentor, coach, and friend Sowmya Hariharan is releasing her first-ever cohort, Infinite Possibilities for Success!!!!!!❤️🔥

Through the cohort, you’ll learn to align your most profound dreams, desires, and emotions to manifest your biggest, boldest dreams!

As someone who has worked with her 1:1, I can definitely attest that she’s fuckin BRILLIANT! I’m not kidding:) I literally have her name saved as Sowmya Mind-Blower Hariharan on my phone, lol. To know more about my experience working with her…read this.

And what more? She only has 5 spots left in her cohort! Grab the chance since she’s gonna infinitely raise her prices for the next one. You’ll definitely not get this opportunity again.❤️🔥

Disclaimer: This can take a couple of tries if you’re completely new to this sort of thing. So don’t worry.

Sit in a comfortable place, and hopefully, a cozy one. You’ll need something to record. It can be a journal, voice, or video recorder…whatever works for you. I record my voice since it allows me to not interrupt the meditation or be too conscious of recording a video.

If you’re doing voice recording, you can keep it on when you start. Simple.

Take in 5 to 6 deep breaths. When you breathe in, make sure to fill up your stomach first and then your chest. Your body should be filled with air. And when you breathe out, focus on each part of your body separately to relax it. You can start with your feet and end with your eyes.

Continue breathing until you’re completely relaxed.

The point of this exercise is to not avoid any emotions and to completely feel them. However negative they are (usually, we either get emotionless or negative thoughts. Positive thoughts are extremely rare. If you get them, kudos to you!). But also not let your thoughts come in and take you in a vicious cycle.

Focus on how the emotions feel in your body.

To start off with, keep taking normal breaths, and focus on your body. You will get a thought in a couple of minutes or seconds. Now, don’t diss it off. Sit with how the thought makes you feel.

Frustrated? Angry? Helpless? Irritated?

Feel the emotion in your body. Are you feeling a tightness in your chest? Uncomfortable? Sit with that. Please don’t run away from it.

If you start getting images in your head, play out the whole scene. If you get colors, be there to witness.

When you sit with those emotions, your heart and soul will automatically lead you to the next emotion and the next. And 100% of the time, they’ll be related. And will be about the WHY you faced your first set of emotions.

Keep asking yourself:

“Why am I feeling this in X situation?”

“When did it first start"?”

“Where am I getting this fear or limiting belief from?”

”When was the earliest I experienced this?”

”How did that make me feel?”

”Am I still in the same place as I was then?”

Allow yourself to follow your curiosity and emotions and go into the rabbit hole.

Keep going and going further…sometimes it might take hours or minutes.

Do it until it feels right in your heart. Until it feels enough.

And while you’re going through this experience, record your voice about what’s going on. What you see, smell, hear, feel…everything. Record how you’re feeling in your body and your emotions. Even ask yourself those questions if required.

It’s almost like talking out loud or talking to yourself.

Some points to note:

  • If it helps, have a background white noise to help you focus

  • Turn off notifications or alarms on your phone

  • Have plenty of water before and after the exercise. It will make you feel tired because you’ve just moved a ton of energy in your body.

  • Probably a couple of days later, listen to your recording. It’ll help you see yourself with a fresh perspective.

  • Most importantly, allow yourself to cry. Don’t hold back. No one’s watching you. You’re in your comfortable space. Tears are fucking powerful, and they open up something beautiful in your body. It’s an energy that needs to flow. Let it flow.

Please try it out a few times and let me know your experience. Again, if you have any questions or don’t understand anything, let me know! I’ll try to record and send a loom video.

Again, remember that this exercise is only to collect data. What to do with this data is something else entirely different. But this needs to happen first over time. Your heart already has all the answers and solutions. You simply need to listen.

This can be applied to any fear w.r.t your business or life. It’ll give you an insight into why you’re holding back in your business in certain aspects and what you could do about it. Just listen and feel. Things will be fine!

Until next time!Shruthi

P.S.: If you know anyone for whom Soulfully Aligned Business Mastery (my upcoming 4-week cohort) will benefit, please refer them! I’m currently putting my heart & soul into developing the curriculum…and it’d mean a lot to me!
