Are you a multi-passionate entrepreneur?

Find your extremely specific niche! Focus on one thing until you die! Become an expert!

I've heard some form or the other of the above messages (okay, probably not that intense) throughout my life, especially since I became an entrepreneur.

Tried to fit myself in that box for a long time, too. For years, actually.

Thought something was wrong with me because I kept jumping from one thing to another. Thought I was a quitter because I couldn't keep my interest or curiosity in one subject for too long.

But after a point, it became too claustrophobic. Fitting myself into those boxes did nothing but increase the friction inside me every single day.

Sounds familiar?

Then, my friend, you're in the right place.

In a society that often focuses on specifics, being a multi-passionate or multipotentialite, as they say nowadays, can feel really lonely.

But what people don't mention is that YOU DECIDE ALL THE RULES FOR YOUR BUSINESS AND LIFE.

(Yes, I put it in caps and bold for a reason)

How many times have we gotten bogged down by shoulds and musts?

Taken decisions because of it even when it did not feel right in our hearts?

Why?

After intensely pondering these thoughts in my overworked brain a couple of months back, I decided to break all the rules of my business. And create my own. Here, I want to share 7 tips for building your business as a multi-passionate business owner.

They have insanely helped me and all of my coaching clients, too!

I hope it changes the way you think about your business.

1. Experiment with everything! Even if it leads to overwhelm and burnout

Yes, I did say that.

As multipassionates, you wanna do this, and that, and this and that! And that's so normal!

Will you get burnt out? Yes! Will you get overwhelmed? Yes!

But at least you'll understand your potential, what you love, what you don't love, and how much you can extend!

You'll then have the evidence to set your own rules in the future without giving a fuck about anything else, whatever it might look like for you.

Stop putting rules on yourself in the beginning. Got an idea? Go! Implement it as soon as possible without overthinking it too much!

2. No one gives a shit about your niche in the long-term

We humans have an extremely short memory span. And you're not that important that everyone watches your every move, okay?

As sad as that is, it means you can really play around with your ideas, visions, experiments, and more!

99% of the people only care about how you can help them at that point in time. Period. And if you build genuine connections and trust with people, they stay with you for a long time (lifetime sounded too much in my head), irrespective of your niche!

3. You will change your niche a zillion times, especially in the first 2 years.

So, what's the point of procrastinating? Get started anyway!

Would you believe me if I said I started as a Human connections coach? (I still cringe at the name I had invented myself 2 years back🫣).

Then I became a writing coach, a Twitter profile coach, a DMs coach, a business consultant, a business coach...and now slowly transitioning to a healer (I'll tell you about that later)

I don't even know how many I've forgotten in between.

I still run a pretty successful business today and have gained many amazing friends!

4. Focus on what brings you joy, energy, and curiosity TODAY

Especially focus on curiosity.

Listen to your heart. See where it leads you.

Because over time, this becomes a great exercise to strengthen your intuition. As you go ahead, you'll automatically know to segregate whether something is right for you or not.

"Nope. Not for me!"

"Hell, yes! I'd love that!"

5. Maaahhhnnneeeyyy!!💰💸

Look, through all this, I'm not saying you should not think about the financial aspects at all.

I'd never say that.

There are 3 main workarounds for this:

  1. You can keep your current niche in your bio to still get external leads while informing your friends/acquaintances about your interests! I got 2 clients specifically for healing (not business coaching) only because of that.

  2. You can have your current niche as your full-time business and do part-time on something else. Or do both part-time! I mean, you set the hours here, don't you? This includes doing part-time jobs in other niches if required.

  3. You can put both businesses in the bio and allow people to choose. But I would prefer this the least because it might confuse your audience.

6. Have 3-week experiments

When I started to ponder about entrepreneurship 3+ years ago and had no fuckin clue of what to do, this one trick helped me the most.

Take a topic that makes you curious today, and try it for 3-4 weeks.

At the end of 3-4 weeks, if you still like it, continue for 3-4 more weeks. If not? Please change it to something else!

You may have lost interest in this because something else would have caught your eye. Go for it! At least you tried!

And if you still love what you're experimenting with, it's time to go deeper!

If you're interested in something for more than 2 months, then you can start doing it part-time, as mentioned in a prior point.

7. [Most important] Have niches for your offers. Not your business.

Your business is a huge and vast cloud that's ever-changing. We multipassionates get the most friction when we create rules for the whole business.

But when it comes to offers? It's much easier. And it gives us space to experiment and explore, too!

You can create subdivisions of your current niche and add your curiosity into the mix to see what comes out. Create an offer that's unique to you!

Interested in photography and branding? Mix it up!

Interested in storytelling and real estate? Mix it up!

I know these were vague examples. But my brain shut down at the exact moment I was writing these...but you get the point, right?🙈😬

I need to be honest here. All these tips aren't mine. They were gifts from videos, mentors, and conversations with friends and clients. But somehow, they have stuck with me throughout the years and have been life-changing.

If not life-changing (a girl can only hope), I genuinely wish they help you in your struggles as a multi-passionate entrepreneur.

Did any resonate with you? Or do you have any tips of your own? I'd love to hear them in your replies!
